Girls earn prizes at District Sports Championships

The Cathedral School came away with four prizes from the King Edward VI Grammar School Cross Country Championships at Melbourne Park. Eve Gosling won the bronze medal in the Year 3 Girls’ 600m race and led the team to second place with 48 points. Eve was followed home by Kimi Vogt-Skard (8th), Gemma Fazackerley (18th), Annie Papararo (19th), Lucy Heaton (25th) and Elsie Queenan (46th). Jessica Prentice also took the individual third in the Year 4 Girls’ 700m race as her team also finished second overall with 56 points. Annie Russell was close behind Jess in 4th. Then came Carla Facchini (24th), Emily Wilton (25th), Isabella Hampson (29th) and Amy Thomas (33rd). Tom Revell was the first Cathedral boy to finish the Year 3 600m race in 8th place ahead of Thomas Snow (24th), George Chambers (25th), Joe Martin (44th), Ethan McKinstry (45th) and Oliver Themistocleous (46th). All the boys in the Year 4 700m race improved on their result from last year with Tom Gore moving up to 12th, Jamie Carroll in 24th, followed by Matthew Foster (29th), Adam Gibson (33rd) and Reece Bugden (50th). A big thank you to Mr Gilmour for helping at the start and all the parents who provided lifts and very loud cheering!
