School Council

The School Council is created twice each year, every class, except Foundation classes, vote for 2 children to represent them.

Last year the School Council had two areas to improve, seating for lunch in the hall and improving the playground. They created a questionnaire for each subject and on the basis of the answers they received they spent £4,000 on seating in the hall and £7,000 on playground markings.

This year the School Council are planning the replacement to the adventure playground and have £6,000 to spend having gained a grant from RBS bank. The plans so far are for a sensory garden, a stage and seating area and a small activity area. Their plans should be completed soon and the projected is to be completed by the middle of the summer term.

Junior Management Team

There are twelve children on the JMT, a head boy and girl, a deputy head boy and girl plus two house captains, a boy and a girl, from each of the four houses, Crompton, Marconi, Christy and Hoffman. In September children in Year 6 can apply to be part of the JMT by writing a letter of application which they read out to all children in Year 5 and 6 on election day. Every child and staff member in Year 5 and 6 has a vote for a girl and a boy, the voting is secret. The child who gains the most votes becomes head boy or girl, then deputy head boy or girl and then team captains.

They are ambassadors for the school, their duties involve showing visitors around the school especially new Parents and modelling excellent behaviour which will inspire the other children.  They meet regularly with the Headteacher and discuss school issues, feedback to her about any worries or concerns children may have.

Playground Leaders

Playground Leaders are in Year 5 and 6, they apply for the position and are selected by Mrs Wood who is the Senior Midday Supervisor and is responsible for the training and management of playground leaders.

Their role is to provide games for children to play at lunchtime; by getting out equipment, teaching children how to play the games and ensuring that behaviour is conducive for everyone to enjoy the games. They receive training at regular intervals during the school year from Mrs Wood.

The playground leaders also work with our youngest children in Foundation Stage teaching them how to play together and preparing them for the time when they play in the main playground with the rest of the school which is the summer term.
