Our curriculum in underpinned by our school values – hope, wisdom, compassion, courage and our 3 school rules of be safe, be kind and be respectful. We encourage children to be critical thinkers, have an enquiring mind and ask questions. Knowledge and skills play a huge role in the curriculum and children are given regular opportunities to link learning to prior learning and make connections across their learning. We try to create an environment where children love to learn and flourish and thrive.
We believe that our curriculum allows children to receive an excellent start to their formal education journey and leave as children who are ready and prepared for the next stage of their journey. Our curriculum ensures that children are engaged and developing their knowledge of the world around them through sequential knowledge and skills in each subject that builds learning over time. We follow the national curriculum and have designed our curriculum to:

- be sequenced through units of learning in a way that allow pupils to make good progress from their starting points and achieve well
- challenge and motivate all learners
- Planned with exciting lessons that allow children to achieve breadth and depth enabling children to fully understand the topic
- foster curiosity and encourage independence
- prepare children to be life-long learners who are always seeking to develop their knowledge and understanding
Implementation – How we learn
Our curriculum design ensures that staff and parents know what is to be taught. Subject leaders have planned programmes of education that put children at the centre and are driven by knowledge and skills.
As a one and a half form entry school we implement a carefully planned rolling curriculum that ensures all children gain the essential knowledge and skills they need over a two-year cycle. This approach allows for comprehensive coverage of the curriculum, with subject leaders and teaching staff working collaboratively to design and sequence learning in a way that builds progressively over time. By revisiting key concepts and deepening understanding across different year groups, we ensure that every child receives a rich, balanced, and coherent educational experience.
They monitor, review and evaluate provision to ensure that learners make continuous progress. High quality CPD is provided for staff to keep them abreast of research findings and best practice. They share their vision; ensuring good subject knowledge is consistent throughout our school.
Day to day, teachers ensure that each lesson is well resourced, assessed and adapted meeting the needs of our children. WE recognize that children learn best when they are engaged and motivated. Therefore, children are at the centre of all planning.
Senior Leaders robustly check the implementation of the curriculum, ensuring that all groups of learners can access the curriculum well and make Outstanding progress.
