Food & Menus
We are proud to offer a fantastic dining experience for all our pupils. Lunchtime is more than just eating—it’s a time to relax, recharge, and enjoy good food with friends.
Our lunch break runs from 11:45am for EYFS and infant children and 12:10pm for juniors, finishing at 1:10pm. Children can choose a school meal or bring a packed lunch, and everyone sits together so mealtime feels inclusive and sociable.
School meals cost £2.50 per day (Christmas Lunch is £3.00) and should be paid in advance. We operate a 3–4 week rotating menu, offering delicious options including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and jacket potatoes. The current menu week is always shared in our weekly newsletter.
we ask all parents to book meals in advance to help our school catering team.
Our wonderful Catering Manager, Mrs Gibbs, and her team prepare fresh, locally sourced meals every day. They even ask the children for their opinions when menus are updated—because we want food that pupils love!
At Cathedral C of E Primary, lunchtime is healthy, enjoyable, and a time to fuel learning for the rest of the day.

We’re delighted to continue a 3-week rolling menu. Packed with delicious, nutritious options and a wider variety of meals, the updated menu has something to suit every taste – including a brand new cold packed lunch option. All allergies and dietary needs are catered for, and clearly marked on the menu. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office. We can’t wait for our pupils to enjoy the choices and discover some new favourites! |
Important Booking Changes for all meals moving forwards. |
|
All meals (ideally including Packed Lunches from home) for the following fortnight must be booked by the Sunday before so all food can be ordered in advance and the kitchen have a better idea of what they are working with in terms of numbers. As you can imagine food is ordered well in advance so we need to know what the children would like to eat earlier. Choosing on the day is creating too much waste and taking up precious space in freezers etc. Bookings can be made to three or more weeks in advance via ScoPay so order all your meals in one go. School will always give prior warning when the next menu set is ready to be ordered. Teachers will continue to check ScoPay each morning and if a meal hasn’t been pre-booked we will assume your child is packed lunch from home. While this may show a balance owing on your account, meals can be paid for as they are eaten or in advance. Please be reminded we do not offer a credit facility. |

It is Christmas lunch week!
To ensure that everyone can enjoy the festive lunches, we have decided to split the celebrations over two days. On Tuesday when the EYFS, Year 1, and Year 2 students are having their Christmas meal, pupils from the other Year groups are welcome to bring in a packed lunch or order a school packed lunch. This way, everyone can partake in the festive spirit while enjoying their meals! On Wednesday, pupils in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 will enjoy their festive meal. Those in EYFS, Year 1, and Year 2 have the option to bring in a packed lunch or order a packed lunch from the school.
