Worship at The Cathedral School
At The Cathedral School, collective worship is a central and cherished part of our daily routine. It is the heartbeat of our school, central to our ethos and is fully supported by all staff and governors. It makes an important contribution to the overall spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the whole school community. Each day, all children and staff come together to share in a time of worship, rooted in our core Christian vision and values of Courage, Hope, Compassion, and Wisdom.
Our worship time is an opportunity to reflect, grow spiritually and explore how we can live out our school vision in practical and meaningful ways. We do this by engaging with Bible teachings, the life of Jesus, and the message of God’s word. Children are encouraged to participate actively—sharing their thoughts, asking questions, be reflective and deepen their understanding of faith and values.
Worship at The Cathedral School includes:
-
Praise - We sing at every collective worship as well as take part in a weekly iSing Pop Worship which is a lively and uplifting part of our week, with songs that bring joy and energy to our school day.
-
Prayer - Children are invited to lead the school in prayer at the end of every worship or simply reflect on their own thoughts, faith or listen to others.
- Active Participation - All our worships are engaging and fun. The chidlrne take part in quizzes, learning and reflection which links to spiritual growth and our spirtuality approach of Heads, hearts and hands.
Collective Worship at The Cathedral School is fully Inclusive of all children and staff. This means that while our worship is always a Christian worship, care is taken by those facilitating worship to avoid assuming faith of those participating, listening or watching. It is always Invitational. Collective Worship aims to be Inspiring to the children and adults in that it aims to motivate all members of our school community into action and to enable them to grow spiritually.
