Literacy

Weekly objectives

Can I form lower case and capital letters correctly?

Can I write short sentences with words with known letter-sound correspondences using a capital letter and full stop?

Can I re-read what I have written to check it makes sense?

Draw a picture of something you did over the weekend.

Can you write the initial and end sounds of the words to describe your picture?

Read the story ‘Aliens Love Underpants’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADnAGBWlzqE

Think about what the planet the aliens come from.

What might the planet look like? What colour is it?

What is the land like? Are there any buildings? What language do they speak?

Design your own planet and write the name and some words to describe it (Teams lesson).

There are a lot of rhyming words in the story.

Rhyming words are words that have the same sound at the end.

Choose a word from the story,

e.g. space, and see how many words you can find that rhyme with it and write them down.

Phonics

Can I read simple phrases and sentences made up of words with known letter-sound correspondences?

Phase 3 phonemes oa and oo (as in book).

Look at the letter sounds, find items and write words containing these letters.

Can you make a sentence with any of the new words you have discovered?

(Phonics is covered on Teams every day).

.

Maths

Can I explore the composition of numbers to 10?

Can I automatically recall number bonds for numbers 0-10?

Watch Numberblocks series 2 episode 13 https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08r3t8t/numberblocks-series-2-the-two-tree

Think about how we can add and subtract 2 from different numbers and how we can do this practically, use blocks to help.

We can also count in 2s, use some socks and arrange the pairs to see how we can count in 2s (Teams lesson).

Watch series 2 episode 11

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08r2l4d/numberblocks-series-2-odds-and-evens

Think about the sock activity.

What happens when you have 11 socks?

Can you make pairs?

If there is an odd sock that means it is an odd number, if all the socks have pairs then it is an even number.

Watch this Oak Academy lesson all about how to add and subtract using a number lines or different objects

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/adding-and-subtracting-using-a-number-track-crv6at

Expressive arts and design

Can I create collaboratively sharing ideas, resources and skills?

  1. Make your own 3D planet by folding paper in different ways (Teams lesson).
  2. Make a fabric slide for alien toys, soft toys or dolls. Which toys get the bottom first? Why do you think that is?
  3. Use the templates on Tapestry to design your own underpants!

    Understanding the World.

Can I understand some similarities and differences between the natural world around me and contrasting environments, drawing on my experiences and what has been read in class?

Can I use new vocabulary in different contexts?

How would you look at the stars?

Think about telescopes and how they can help us to see things far away.

Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrS3Ye8p61Y and discuss the different types of stars.

Can you make a telescope using a tube or a rolled up piece of paper?

This one is about how to stay clean after using the toilet and why this is important.

    RE - Creation

    Parables

Can I recognise that people have different beliefs and celebrate special times in different ways?

Can I understand the meaning of Lent and understand why we want to have a new beginning?

Read the Bible story of when Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, we call this Palm Sunday.

Think about why the people were so excited about his arrival and how they treated him as a King.

What was this even leading up to?

Use your handprints to make your own palm leaf, can you wave it like the people would have done for Jesus (Teams lesson).
