Weekly objectives

Can I form lower case and capital letters correctly?

Can I write short sentences with words with known letter-sound correspondences using a capital letter and full stop?

Can I re-read what I have written to check it makes sense?

 

Draw a picture of something you did over the weekend.

Can you write the initial and end sounds of the words to describe your picture?

Discuss what materials are used for different items (wellies, raincoats, scarves, hats).

Discuss how these materials are appropriate for the items.

What material would you use for the alien’s waterproof dress? Why?

Use the dress template and cover it in the correct material, write a sentence about your choice.

If you were an astronaut going to the moon, what would you like to know?

Write a question about something you would like to find out about the moon.

 

 

Phonics

Can I read simple phrases and sentences made up of words with known letter-sound correspondences?

 

Phase 3 phonemes oo (as in look) and ar.

Look at the letter sounds, find items and write words containing these letters.

Can you make a sentence with any of the new words you have discovered?

 

 

Maths

Can I explore the composition of numbers to 10?

Can I automatically recall number bonds for numbers 0-10?

Expressive arts and design

Can I create collaboratively sharing ideas, resources and skills?

 

It is Mother’s Day on Sunday, design and make a special card for your Mummy!

 

Make your own moon painting, draw a circle and use some string to make smaller circles like craters, stick the string down, paint the circle and paint over the string.

Your moon should look like it has craters on it!

     

     

     

     

    Understanding the World.

    Can I understand some similarities and differences between the natural world around me and contrasting environments,

    drawing on my experiences and what has been read in class?

    Can I use new vocabulary in different contexts?

     

    Have a go at the 3 space themed science experiments (saved in Tapestry documents).

    Take pictures of your experiments and have a go at explaining the science behind them!

     

     

    Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)

    Can I manage my own needs?

    RE - Creation

    Lent and Easter

    Can I recognise that people have different beliefs and celebrate special times in different ways?

    Can I understand the meaning of Lent and understand why we want to have a new beginning?

     

    Read the story of Jesus’ crucifixion in the Bible.

    Think about why crosses are an important symbol for Christians.

    Why do we have crosses at Easter and why are they important for Christians?

    Look at the hot cross buns and ask think about why we have these at Easter?

     

    Decorate a cross with patterns or other symbols of Easter (eggs, chicks, lambs etc all meaning new life).

     

     

    Physical development (PE and handwriting)

     

    Can I combine different movements with ease and fluency?

    Can I develop the foundations of a handwriting style which is fast, accurate and efficient?

     

    Practice forming the graphemes oo and ar, use Letterjoin to help you.
