Literacy

 

Can I write recognisable letters, most of which are correctly formed?

 

Write a sentence or two about something you did over the weekend that you enjoyed.

 

Read ‘The Emperor’s new clothes’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=ZC38jekCaB8

Talk about the meaning of the story and how the Emperor felt.

Choose a part of the story that you enjoyed and write about it, why is it your favourite part.

 

Draw pictures and write sentences about what happened in the beginning, middle and end of the story.

 

 

Phonics

Can I read words consistent with my phonic knowledge by sound-blending?

 

Phase 3 phonemes qu and ng.

Look at the letter sounds, find items and write words containing these letters.

Can you make a sentence with any of the new words you have discovered?

 

 

Maths

Can I verbally count beyond 20, recognising the pattern of the counting system?

I have a deep understanding of number to 10, including the composition of each number.

Think about patterns from last week.

Practice making a 3 step repeating pattern using colours or shapes.

Is it important the order stays the same? Why?

 

Try arranging your pattern in a spiral or zigzag shape, does the order still stay the same?

 

Make up a clapping or sound 3 step pattern, record yourself performing it and post on Tapestry

 

 

 

Expressive arts and design

Can I make use of props and materials when role playing characters in narratives and stories?

 

  1. Design and make your own crown for the Emperor.
  2. Look at pictures of Emperor butterflies, can you sketch one of the pictures? Look at the detail and colours.

     

     

    Understanding the World.

    I know some similarities and differences between things in the past and now.

    Can I explore the natural world around me?

     

    1. Learn more about Hans Christian Andersen and where he is from. Think about how all his stories have meanings. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRIQaGCXdZY ‘The Princess and the pea’, what is the meaning of this story?
    2. Look at where Denmark is on the globe and then at the Danish flag. Can you make a flag for the Emperor?

     

     

    Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)

    Can I manage my own basic hygiene and personal needs, including dressing, going to the toilet and understanding the importance of healthy food choices?

    Can I show an understanding of my own feelings and those of others, and begin to regulate my behaviour?

    Baptisms

     

    Can I understand why we are Baptised?

    Talk about what happens at a Christening and some of the items you might find there. Can you draw a picture story of what happens?

    Can I negotiate space and obstacles safely, with consideration for myself and others?

    Can I move energetically, such as running, jumping, dancing, hopping, skipping and climbing?

     

    Parade dance – Create a dance for the parade. It must have a beginning, middle and end.

     

    Practice forming the graphemes qu and ng, use Letterjoin to help you, maybe you could join your letters.
