Can I write effective lines for a poem?

You need to write the next verse of your poem and make sure that you have included a metaphor, powerful adjectives and that it follows the rhyming pattern.

Before the lesson, if you have time to, please read ‘Lucy Activity Sheet’ and highlight all of the hyphens that you can find.

We are going to be exploring the different uses of hyphens and discussing how they influence the readers understanding.

We are going to be recalling and discussing the different uses of comma and how they influence the reader’s understanding.

Can I round decimals?

Children are introduced to numbers with two decimal places and 1 develop their understanding of rounding to the nearest whole number and to the nearest tenth.

 

Can I order and compare decimals?

Children order and compare numbers with up to three decimal 1 places. They use place value counters to represent the numbers they are comparing.

 

Can I understand percentages?

Children are introduced to ‘per cent’ for the first time and will 1 understand that ‘per cent’ relates to ‘number of parts per hundred’.

They will use ‘number of parts per hundred’ alongside the % symbol.

Can I understand percentages as fractions and decimals?

Children represent percentages as fractions using the denominator 100 and will recognise percentages, decimals and fractions are different ways of expressing proportions.

 

Can I understand equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages?

Children recognise simple equivalent fractions and solve problems which require knowing percentage and decimal equivalents of those fractions with a denominator of 2, 4, 5 or a multiple of 10 or 25

Can I convert fractions to decimals (1)?

Children explore how finding an equivalent fraction where the denominator is 10, 100 and 1,000 makes it easier to convert from a fraction to a decimal.

It is important that children recognise that ¾ is the same as 3 ÷ 4.

They can use this understanding to find fractions as decimals by then dividing the numerator by the denominator.

Children will build on their learning in Year 5 and learn to convert fractions to equivalent fractions where the denominator is 100 in order to find the percentage equivalent.

Children use their knowledge of common equivalent fractions and decimals to find the equivalent percentage.

We are going to be using this video from National Oak Academy to explore how erosion and transportation in a river system forms land forms.

Can I explore how Christians put their beliefs into practice?

We are going to be exploring the symbols found in a Eucharist service and the associated Bible stories.

You are then going to be designing your own service to remember the Salvation of Jesus presented in the form of a double page spread.

Can I make a story-based adventure?

Children access the 2Do and use the full functionality of 2Create a Story Adventure mode to create, test and debug using their plan.

Children are expected to split their adventure-game design into appropriate sections to facilitate its creation.

 

 

Science

Can I carry out a scientific investigation?

You are going to need the template for a paper helicopter, paperclips and some scissors for this lesson.

We are going to be investigating the speed in which a paper helicopter falls.

 

PHSE

Can I describe what changes there have been to marriage and civil partnerships?

Children should use the information provided on the PSHE timeline to consider why we need laws regarding relationships and marriage/civil partnerships and why they have changed.

Ask children to imagine the world in 50 years’ time.

Are there any changes they would like to have seen happen to the law during this time?

Children can record their ideas on the worksheet.

 

 MFL

Can I revise and recall key topic vocabulary?

On Thursday afternoon, on Tapestry, there are going to be links to Kahoot quizzes that you can play to revise the vocabulary that we have learnt during the last half term.

Take a screenshot of your score and upload to Tapestry.

DT

Can I design a final product?

This is the pre-recorded session available on Tapestry at 1.30pm on Tuesday.

You are going to be designing the cross stitch pattern that you are going to be sewing in class.

Your final piece must have a river as the main focal point of your design but you can include any other features that you wish to.

Once you have drawn your design on plain paper, you need to use the graph paper to plot out each stitch to create your pattern.
