Writing

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

Friday

Can I write dialogue?

Using the resources on Tapestry, familiarise yourself with Cosmic.

Think about how Liam’s Dad would be feeling after Liam had been missing for over 2 hours – word collect ideas for what he might say to Liam.

Use the success criteria (on Tapestry) to write the dialogue between Liam and his Dad at this point in the story.

Can I plan for dialogue to advance the action?

Imagine yourself as Liam pretending to be a grown-up – what would you want to do the most?

How would you be feeling if you managed to pretend to be an adult successfully?

What would your body language be showing?

Mind map some ideas for different scenarios, making a note of ambitious vocabulary and how you are going to show not tell your reader.

Can I balance narrative and dialogue?

You need to choose one of your ideas from yesterday that you are going to write as a scene.

You need to think carefully about how you are going to use the show not tell technique to give clues to your reader and what dialogue is going to be spoken by Liam and another person.

Remember – there needs to be a balance between dialogue and narrative!

Can I read and respond to a text?

Listen the recording of the story up and use the Power Points on Tapestry to answer questions about what has been read.

Maths

Year 5

(see resources on Tapestry)

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday

Can I recognise decimal numbers in sequence?

Look at decimal sequences and create simple rules.

For example: adding 0.5.

What does increasing and decreasing mean?

Is the sequence increasing? By how much?

Can I find percentages of an amount? (Part 1)

Children need to understand percentages as parts of 100 and that the whole amount is 100%, therefore when finding 1% we divide by 100.

How many other ways could you find 25%? Which is the most effective?

Can I find percentages of an amount? (Part 2)

Children use different representations to find percentages of amounts. For example 50%, 25%, 10%, 1%.

Develop a deep understanding of why you can divide by ten to find 10%, but you do not divide by 25 to find 25%.

Can I solve problems involving percentages and missing amounts?

Use understanding of finding percentages of amounts to find missing values.

You may choose to use a bar model to support understanding and structure ideas.

See that there may be more than one way to solve a problem and that some methods are more efficient than others.

Year 6

.

Can I divide decimals by integers?

Using similar methods from yesterday’s lesson, work through the example questions and problems on Tapestry.

Practice them if you need to.

When confident, have a go at solving the problems using these methods on Tapestry.

Can I demonstrate what I have learnt?

Complete the assessment task that has been uploaded onto Tapestry.

Science

Can I describe the movement of the Earth, and other planets, relative to the Sun in the solar system?

Activity 1 – use the information table that has been uploaded onto Tapestry to plot the distances of the planets on a line graph.

Activity 2 – create a poster page for the solar system that includes the following information: planets in the correct order, distance from the sun in kilometres, length of a year on each planet and the number of moons.

PE

 Computing

Can I create a picture-based quiz for young pupils?

Using the 2Do in Purple Mash called Picture-based Quiz design a simple quiz for EYFS/Year 1 pupils.

There are some examples of such quizzes in use within Purple Mash. Have a look at:

Search for ‘puzzle’ in the search bar to get a variety of puzzles that are part of Simple City.

Search for ‘pairs’ or look at the Julia Donaldson category (in Literacy, Authors) which shows how the pairing and placing games have been used with a story theme

PHSE

Can I discuss how the Magna Carta has helped to shape the laws we have today?

Look at the history of the Magna Carta. One of the fundamental purposes was to limit the use of power by those in charge.

The Magna Carta laid the foundations of equality before the law. Use the discussion cards on worksheet 1 to explore the concept of fairness and justice.
