Sixth-place finish at District finals

The Cathedral School took three teams to the annual District Hockey Tournament at Chelmer Park on Wednesday and all squads enjoy successes.

In the First Division, the A team narrowly lost to St Michaels before enjoying a 2-1 win over Great Leighs and 7-0 over Newlands Spring, and qualifying for the play-offs where they eventually came sixth.

Meanwhile, the B team and C team actually faced each other in their final play-off match, with the C team winning 4-2 to ensure they came fourth in the Second Division, with the B team finishing one place lower.

Alex, who played in the A team, said, "It was very hard because not all of us had played competi-tively before. The best moment was the win over Newlands Spring because everybody played at their very best."

B team member William Cottis, who earned a late call-up, added, "It was very fun to represent the school. I was nervous at first, but with everybody's help and support I felt much better."

Finally, Kimberley from the C team, said, "I had never played in a team for the school at anything before. I was nervous and excited at the same time, but afterwards I felt really proud of myself."
