Harrison claims Cathedral Open golf title

The Cathedral School staged its first ever golf event on the playground and field last week.

The tournament involved a putting competition on the playground before the children moved to the field where they had to chip to four different greens in one direction, before turning around and chipping the ball back in the opposite way.

After the putting contest, there were joint-leaders in Harrison, Clara and Bella, but Harrison took the lead after the first four holes of chipping. Despite a great fightback from Bella, who claimed second place, he was able to hold on to win with a score of 33. Bella took 38 shots and Clara took 40 shot in third.

Bella said, "I was pleased with the long shot I did at the last hole. I improved because I kept my left arm straight."

Clara added, "I enjoyed putting on the playground the best."

Two days later, in an all-girl field, Connie defeated her sister Elsie in a play-off to lift the Ladies Masters title. Gabriella came third and everybody in the competition managed to achieve a hole-in-one at some point.

Connie said, "It felt amazing to beat my sister."

Elsie added, "I think golf is fun and I would definitely do it again."
