Rounders

The Year 6 Rounders team qualified for the District finals on Tuesday after winning all their matches in the qualifying tournament at St John Payne Catholic School.

The squad started with a win over St Michaels 7.5 to 4 and followed this with a win over Kings Road 9.5 to 4.5. After a short rest, they played their closest game against Bishops, who they eventually beat 5.5 to 3.5.

The squad was made up of Juliet, Millie, Kalista, Evie, Harrison, Sam, Max, Billy and William C. They qualified alongside Writtle and Lawford Mead and three teams from an earlier competition at Great Baddow.

“I thought we might win one or two but didn’t expect to win all three,” said Max. “I think we did quite a lot of good communication and excellent fielding and worked well as a team.”

The Year 6 Rounders team finished fifth at the District finals on Tuesday at Great Baddow High School.

The squad started with a heavy defeat to eventual champions St Michaels A 9.5 to 1.5 but bounced back to defeat Purleigh 5.5 to 3.5.

After a short rest, they entered the play-off phase and lost 5 to 3.5 to Perryfields A, before again recovering their form to beat Moulsham Juniors 4.5 to 2.

 

The squad was made up of Juliet, Millie, Kalista, Evie, Harrison, Sam, Max, Billy and William C. They came 5th out of nine finalists.
